Health Centre, Namtar

The current Health Centre in Namtar which serves approximately 11,000 people is also the maternity unit.  This facility is now too small for a growing population and the local community have been working hard to secure funding to purchase a larger piece of land in the centre of the village to enable them to build a  bigger health centre with more beds so that people can be cared for locally rather than having to travel several hours to one of the city hospitals.

March 2023 Update   NEPAL-ease donated £5,000 towards the cost of the land required for the health post, which represented half the cost needed.  The government had agreed to pay for the build if the community could fund the land. The first stage of the health post is now in use (see photo) and alongside it is the second stage of the build, providing fifteen hospital beds, which is now under construction.  The old health post has now become the maternity centre.
